Pleased to join a chorus of programming to celebrate Josiah McElheny’s exhibition Instrument Object (on view at The Kitchen through Nov. 7, 2026), a show engaging the work of ten musical artists through JM’s rigorous exploration of color and form.

On Friday November 6, 2026 the shop will celebrate one of the musicians included in that series, David Grubbs, alongside Corbett vs. Dempsey’s issuing of From Red Black to Black, from Blue Black to Black CD. The CD includes a thirty-minute composition built out of the six soundtracks Grubbs composed for McElheny’s 2023 show of the same title at Corbett vs. Dempsey, Chicago.

At 7 p.m. on November 6, 2026, John Corbett and David Grubbs will dialogue, then David Grubbs will perform a solo set. 

CDs will be available for purchase, and signing.
